Skill Definition: Tracing is the computer-based skill that allows one to isolate the origin of any particular signal or message on Stocklin's internet.

Common Uses: Tracing is often used by information security specialists trying to track down hackers, though it has illegitimate uses as well: tracking down someone who's posted a message you don't like for nefarious purposes.

Rule Information

Rule Notes: When someone is attempting to infiltrate a system, the sysadmin is not aware unless their Information Security roll defeats the infiltrator's Hacking roll; then and only then can Tracing be rolled to track them down. Tracking can be rolled on its own as well.
Common Modifiers: Tracing is typically rolled at 0.
