Rules

From ElanVital

Jump to: navigation, search

Note: These rules apply to all players of Elan Vital--no exceptions. That includes staffers. No, staffers do not get perks for being staff. Our characters are treated exactly like any other. The only exceptions may be when those characters are needed for plots.

  • Profanity is allowed. That's right, you can swear if you want to. HOWEVER. All players will be expected to be responsible about it. Just because you can is no reason to cuss out every other word. Also, the reason profanity is allowed at all is for characterizational reasons - make it IC, and keep it that way. OOCly (and especially on-chan), please keep it to a minimum. If anyone asks you to move it to the Granola chan (which is unlimited) please do so.

  • Elan Vital does not employ an age limit policy. Frankly, we really don't care how old you are. The game rating is PG-13 to light R, and players will be expected to be reasonably mature.

  • Minors will not be permitted to engage in TinySex. And yes, if we catch you at it and you're underage, you will be banned.

  • TinySex of any kind should be kept to private places, where other players are not going to stumble in on it by accident. In addition to this, all players participating in a TinySex scene must agree--explicitly. That's right, you have to ask first. ;-) Fade to Black is encouraged, but not enforced.

  • Harassment of anybody of any sort will get you banned.

  • Advertising will be kept to designated areas. If you're not sure where these are, poke a staffer.

  • The IC/OOC Line will be respected. If you're not sure what that is, click the link.

  • Players are welcome to start their own plots. Please do! However, if a player starts a plot, it is theirs. Other players may participate in it to their heart's content, but only the one running the plot will be allowed to steer it. Staff will not step in unless asked or unless there is

  • Keep it thematic. Your RP, your bio, everything but what goes on OOCly should all adhere to theme. No, you did not crash land on Voltumnus from an alien escape pod. No, you were not raised by wolves out on the frontier.

  • Character death happens, and yes, Elan Vital does live by Permadeath. However, make sure not to kill characters lightly. If anyone involved in a scene where a character dies have a problem with what happens, save the log and talk to staff.

  • XP Transfer: You CAN transfer XP between alts, including from deceased alts. To do so, simply ask a staffer. Only unused XP may be transfered; if we catch you lowering all the skills of an unused/deceased alt to bolster another character, you may lose XP transfer privileges! The only exception here is for the XP of PCs who are not being transfered over post-theme change; all of this XP can be transfered.

  • Always ask before posting logs on the Wiki. You have a right to hang onto logs of any scene you participate in, but before going public with it, you should always ask the other player(s) in the scene. The exception to this rule is any log of a major event (E.g., +calendared ones), or the log of any scene involving four or more players.

  • Alts are permitted without restriction by number--the sky's the limit, as long as you can pull them all off believably. Your alts do not, however, interact unless it's vitally important and/or unavoidable and you clear it with staff first. This means that no, you may not have more than one character in a single scene at a time. (Having more than one alt involved in separate but simultaneous scenes at once is fine, however. For instance, if your character Jane wants to get involved in a scene at the Court of Water at the same time your other character Bob wishes to scene in the Black Cat Bar, that is perfectly acceptable.)

  • Concepts that cannot be applied for: UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR NEW THEME

  • Coaches and commends given out for RP should relate to your RP and your RP only--that is, scenes that you were directly involved in by having a character present. Coaches should also be stated as constructive criticism--please keep it as polite and objective as possible.

If you feel that the coach system has been abused, report the coach in question to staff via +str after the system cycles. Except in cases of blatant abuse (insults, non-constructive criticism, etc. count as blatant abuse) we will not otherwise investigate your coaches.
