Basic Facts

Skill Definition: Magic Combat is the skill to effectively and efficiently wield one's magical abilities in a combative sense. The skill represents knowledge of anatomy to enhance damage inflicted, as well as knowledge of specific techniques usable with various magical abilities.

Common Uses: All Celestians in the Celestial Brigade know at least something of Magic Combat, as untrained use of magic tends to be noticeably less effective.

Rule Information

Rule Notes: Magic Combat is not rolled, but used to modify the effectiveness of any of these skills: Aeromancy, Geomancy, Hydromancy, Pyromancy and Avatar.


Damage: Here is how damage is calculated for the above affected skills based on the level of the magic combat skill.


Non-existent to Poor: Base Damage (0 for Aeromancy, 1 for all others affected by this skill)

Mediocre/Fair: Base+1

Good/Great: Base+2

Superb: Base+3

Legendary: Base+4


Defense: The magic combat skill also affects the defense power of an avatar. Based on level, its defense is as follows:

Non-existent to Fair: 2

Good/Great: 3

Superb/Legendary: 4
Common Modifiers: Magic Combat is not rolled.
