Basic Facts

Skill Definition: History represents a character's knowledge of past events pertaining to Titania, the Empire, Earth, and the associated peoples. While most characters may assume that they learned a very basic understanding of such things as children in school, characters taking the History skill are recognized as having above average understandings and knowledge.

Common Uses: In addition to just affecting knowledge, history allows individuals to recognize patterns in timelines, objectively analyze past events, and attempt to foresee how these events may affect the future (at a rough guess).

Rule Information

Rule Notes: It is important to note that History is different from the Lore skillset in that History implies a *factual* knowledge of peoples and events, but not of the stories, songs, cultures, traditions, etc. that go with those peoples and events. For instance, while a character with a high History skill may have knowledge of the long-dead Earth cultures in Africa, they would not be familiar with the tales of Anansi the Spider. History will probably not be rolled often day-to-day, but PCs with the skill may ask a staffer for a witnessed roll to see what they know about a certain topic, and staffers may ask PCs to roll when historical knowledge is relevant to a plot or scene.
Common Modifiers: History is typically rolled at 0, but can be modified for the difficulty of the task. Knowing the name of a famous Amera 100 years back might be rolled at +2; knowing the detailed ins and outs of an ancient Earth war might be -2.
