Skill Definition: Emergency Medicine is a skill that represents a roughly paramedic-level knowledge of basic medical procedures that can be done anywhere, without complex machinery, for immediate response.

Common Uses: Emergency Medicine sees use on both sides of the river, though it is perhaps more common knowledge in Petakova, as Petakovans know they cannot count on communication being quick enough to secure them professional help- a moot worry in Stocklin, where ambulance response is basically guaranteed within a couple minutes anywhere in the city. Its most common practitioners are Militiafolk, who may well need the skills on the battlefield.

Rule Information

Rule Notes: Emergency Medicine can treat low-level wounds of any type, representing techniques such as setting bones, sealing small gashes with skin-sealant chemicals, and applying antidotes to poisoning cases. However, it cannot be used to stand in for Surgery, Trauma Medicine or other skills in dealing with serious wounds.
Common Modifiers: Emergency Medicine is typically rolled at 0, but can be modified for the difficulty of the task. Cleaning and sealing a couple little scratches might be +2; trying to use Emergency Medicine to keep someone with a punctured lung alive might be -2.
