This page provides information on the safe animals commonly used and found within Titania's walls, not on the beasts outside in the wilderness.

The animals common to Titanian everyday life are a mix, mostly, of creatures brought from Old Earth and the Terran Empire and native Voltumnan species which could be tamed--such as the Kodresh--as well as a few that couldn't but are basically harmless--e.g., the Alabear.

When the E.S. Starfall originally set out from the Terran Empire, it brought with it DNA samples from a variety of useful animals from home, suitable for cloning. Many of these animals still exist--included are cows, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, rats and mice (originally brought for testing purposes and now found throughout the city--surprise surprise), monkeys, some varieties of fish, several species of birds, insects, arachnids, and more.

Not all of the samples that were originally brought survived the trip. The horse DNA was improperly sealed and decayed, as did that of squirrels.

Some Voltumnan animals that the colonists found similar to Earth animals took on their names--such as seagulls and pelicans, which are not the exact species from Earth, but similar enough to warrant being called such. A few, such as the Gray Owl, are the result of genetic manipulation of either Terran species or ones native to Voltumnus.

The majority of fish eaten in Titania are descended from ones brought from the Terran Empire, which can be cultivated with ease in fisheries and don't require one to venture into the dangerous waters of the Carinac Sea. By some people, fish native to Voltumnus are considered a delicacy.

OOC Note: For RP purposes, if the animal is exceptionally rare or weird, assume Titania doesn't have it. Brush-tailed rock wallabies count as exceptionally rare or weird ;-). If it's relatively mundane and not a squirrel or a horse, go ahead and call it by its Earth name for the sake of ease.
