LORE ROLLS AT GREAT OR ABOVE: The name of the Ammitus (Plural: Ammiti) has its roots in Egyptian mythology. The creature is named after the Egyptian deity Ammit, whose name means 'Devourer' or 'Bone Eater'.

Another notable thing about the Ammitus is that it will eat virtually anything--vegetable, meat, excrete, bones, garbage, or otherwise. It is not picky, and very little seems to slow down its digestive track.

Physical Description

In size, an Ammitus slightly tops a particularly large dog. Its body is thin, and slightly wider than it is thick, which gives it a peculiar "flat" appearance. Thin, muscular legs carry it nearly anywhere it wishes to go--including up and down surfaces most would consider unclimbable. With four joints in its legs, rather than three, it moves with a peculiar gait that seems at once fluid and impossibly awkward. Each leg ends in long, finger-like claws resembling human digits (though they are not opposable). The Ammitus has a narrow face with strong, vicious jaws capable of ripping through virtually anything. Grey fur covers its body, save for its tail--which is every bit as hairless as a rat's, but long, nimble, and prehensile.

Magical Properties

Thankfully, the Ammitus is not known to have any magical abilities.

Habitat

The Ammitus naturally prefers wooded areas, where it hunts amongst the trees and enclosed spaces it is more than capable of navigating. However, they have also been spotted in the Goldsea, and occasionally even within Titania itself. Interestingly, ammiti have never been among the hordes of beasts that plague Titania during times of war.

Social Behavior

Ammiti tend to travel and hunt in small groups of two-to-four, rarely alone, and rarely moving in packs. After reaching adulthood, a young ammitus will leave the den of its parents, and take to hunting either with a sibling or with its mate (the latter arrangement seems to be preferable).

Danger Level

Medium-High. While not as unstoppable or as destructive as, for instance, a neta, Ammiti are fierce when pressured, and quite strong.
